The Best Decision

Sometimes we should make important choose in our lives, choose that will diceide what we eill do for the rest our lives, and will not back. These choose we did when we are young, starting life, there is much pressure on us.

I am lucky, because my parents always supported me, with their experience I could choose the besto for me. I think my best decision was my major Environmental Engineering. First of all, because I like so much, and I am in a area of Environmental Engineering that. I like too, and I can help other people with my knowledge, mainly poor people that have floods problems.

Because my major and my university, I could study in United States, improve my English and major. It is been a great experience, to live in California and to know new people every day.

Under pressure and with parents support I got to make a right decision, it is being important for me.

One Test, One Chance

There is a sentence that tells “it is better to be prepared and not have the opportunity than to have the opportunity and not be prepared”. TOEFL test is so important for me to come and stay in United States. In Brazil before I came was necessary to do the TOEFL test, I had a minimum score to participate in the Brazilian language program, called Science Without Borders. Then I get, it was amazing to see that I get the score, so I could go to United States. However, I needed to do another test to get the score to enter University and study two semesters. Yesterday, 10/22/2014, the result of my test was ready. Before to see the TOEFL grade, all of my Brazilian friends and I, were exciting about the score, almost of them and I get it.

I studied so much in Brazil and here in United States. I always read different texts with several kind of subjects to learn new words every day. I did a lot of practice tests, because I knew that the TOEFL test is hard, we have little time to answer all the questions. My advice to other people is study the TOEFL test, because it is different, you should know how it is works, study the vocabulary, sometimes you can’t know what mean even in the context. Practice reading and listening, you should prepare your mind and ear to notice the lectures.

I my life I had some important tests, and I believe these tests were important for other people too. In Brazil a lot of people want to enter in a Public University because there are some benefits, like quality and don’t need pay to study there, so is too hard to enter this university. Then my first important test was the High School National Exam, with this exam I could enter in any university of Brazil in anywhere. I wanted to enter in a Public University in my city and my family and friends believed me, so I had a pressure to get this, but I get and was amazing to tell to my family and friends, and because of my university I did the TOEFL and I am here now.

Differences Between Brazil and United States in my life

Some cultures have the same point of view and do the things in the same way and others can do it in different way, or are totally different each other, wich do not have the same though and do the things in specific way.
I can see this in United States, which is so similar to Brazil in somethings, and totally different in other. Before I came here, I received some directions about American behavior and what I could not do here that was normal in Brazil. The Brazilians are more affective than American, and other countries I can say that hug and kiss on friends face is normally, but in United States I can not say hello and kiss another person, strange for us that said hi and kiss on face everyday in Brazil.
There is a behavior I like so much, the American people arrive in the places on time, and have everything planned, so I can plan and schedule my day, I will time because the people will arrive on time. In Brazil some people, do not arrive on time, so if you have another thing to do after, you need call and warn about the problem with the time.
In United States specifically my situation in California State University Fullerton, I can eat all the time, before I came I did not eat nothing, now I need to eat so much, the people in Brazil will think this strange and funny, it was difficult I eat something, I am here almost 2 months and I gain 4 kilograms.
This experience in United States it is being great for me, I think it important for improve my knowledge and my behavior and the way to see the things around for me. After live here, I would like to live in other countries, it will be great.

If you won a million dollar, what would you do? Please tell 3-4 things and give some supporting details.

At first, I would like to help my family (some people) and other people that need something. I would like to create some projects to help them, like environmental awareness and social assistance.
I would like to travel around the world, to know other cultures and other people. I think the first place I would go to Germany, because in Europe countries there is a big development in my field of study. After Asia and other but I would go to Kuwait too, to know my classmate country.
Finally I would like to live in a good place in my country, maybe in the South, because there some relatives, and I was born there, so I would like to come back.

My country is located in South America, and the native language is Portuguese. Brazil is a big country, divided in 5 regions, which has different customs and points of view. I was born in the South, in the state called Rio Grande do Sul, that has some customs totally different of other region, the people that was born there, are called gaucho, people from Argentina are called the same, because are near each other and some customs are similar. The principal customs in this state is the barbecue, chimarrao, charque and a specific accent. Depending on region the people are so different each other, but in some states are similar. Like foods, in Northeast we can find food called acaraje, caju and in the South the famous barbecue. If someone from Northeast do the barbecue, the way and the taste will be different.

About clothes, is similar United States (California), the people like to be fashion, and use the season clothes, and spend a lot of money, but there are people that don’t matter about it. I can’t forget about culture clothes, in Rio Grande do Sul, they use bombacha, a typically clothe. And talking about clothes, I can talk about shopping. In the big cities, the mall is always full, I went Sao Paulo, and there, all the day had people buying something, in the small cities too, but there are small stores. The transportation in Brazil in some places is so good, but in general we need to improve our roads, and the traffic in the big cities and some small cities is so bad. For instance, Sao Paulo, is a good city, a lot information in subway, roads, avenue, and a good roads, but in specific hour the traffic is so bad, sometimes the people need to wait for hours.

In general Brazil is a good country, has problems that should be resolved, but the people can understand different point of view, the Brazilians are so friendship, you never will be alone there, and our country has a big potential to develop.
